Protect Yourself and Your Skin from the Intense Sun Rays of Summer With Sport Buddy

by DJS
(Dallas,Tx, USA)

During the summertime, everyone undoubtedly spends more time outside in the radiant sun--whether it be at the beach, sailing, enjoying a round of golf, or traveling. While many people worship the sun; most fail to think about the harmful effects the sun also has.

During the season of Summer, the sun is higher in the sky; resulting in the rays of sun light hitting us more directly, which makes the sunlight more intense and warmer. Additionally, because of the current state of carbon emissions we produce, our ozone is depleting by around 3% each year which will make the rays of the sun even more intense.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends that a water resistant sunscreen that has both UVA and UVB protection as well as Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 30 be worn year round. The AAD also recommends the use of sun protective clothing as well as a sun hat and sunglasses. Wearing a hat with a brim and anti-UV sunglasses can provide almost 100% protection against ultra violet radiation entering the eyes.

Sunlight consists of 2 types of harmful rays: ultra violet A (UVA) rays and ultra violet B (UVB) rays. UVA rays (which pass through windows and glass) penetrate deeper into the dermis, the thickest layer of the skin.

These UVA rays can cause suppression of the immune system, which then interferes with the immune system's ability to protect you against the development and spread of skin cancer. On the superficial side of our skin, UVA exposure is known to lead to signs of premature aging of the skin such as wrinkling and age spots.

The UVB rays are the suns burning rays (which are blocked by window glass) and are the primary cause of sunburn.

A good way to remember the difference in these rays of the sun are that UVA are the "Aging" rays and UVB are the "Burning" rays. Excessive exposure to both forms of UV rays can lead to the development and spread of skin cancer.

Following the AAD recommendation, a hat such as Sport Buddy can help to shield our skin and protect you from the harmful rays of the sun.

Sport Buddy is a patented reversible, packable, and completely washable hat. The Sport Buddy product line of hats have been sun tested by Cal Poly and received a UPF rating of 50+! All Sport Buddy hats are made of 100% stylish cotton canvas.

What I really love, and believe separates the Sport Buddy hat from other sun hats is the flexible brim of the hat. The brim is solid yet flexible enough to shape and style to your every need--all while keeping you protected from the harmful UV rays of the sun! You can literally find a brim shape to suit your mood.

The patented Sport Buddy hat is made and manufactured here in the U.S.A. There are over 20 sash colors and each hat can be designed with either a white or natural canvas color. There are many different print choices to choose from. Each hat is personally fitted and styled for each individual customer purchasing--I don't go anywhere without this Sport Buddy hat!
