Sun Dream Clothing

We set out for a year long sailing trip, our first time out on such a long expedition alone.

We brought plenty of clothes, but we did not purchase clothing specifically designed for sun protection – clothing with SPF ratings.

Now you will find that active wear clothing lines are all too keen to inform buyers of the SPF rating of their clothing.

It used to be that SPF ratings only appeared on standard sun tan lotion bottles, but now they are showing up on sun protective shirts, shoes, socks, pants and even skirts.

What is the SPF rating of your skirt? If you don't know, it may not be that good.

Stores like Wal Mart, REI, Outdoor World and Sunny's offer a wide selection of SPF rated clothing.

If you aren't sure where to start, start online. It's amazing what you can find on the internet.

It is generally the case that clothing in darker colors, not pastels or white, and clothing in thicker materials has a better rating than lighter and thinner clothing.
