The Way He Described Macular Degeneration

by Brandon
(USA)

Well, my grandfather was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration about 5 years ago.

I think everyone was in denial about it for a long time because to us, nothing was different.

My grandfather was tough, and he didn't like to show that anything was wrong with him.

One day, we were playing a game, Trouble, where you have to put these little pegs inside holes on a board.

He was having trouble getting a peg in the hole.

That's when we all realized he really had trouble seeing.

The way he described it was when you look straight ahead there's a black space right in front of you, but you can see what surrounds it.

Macular Degeneration sounds really scary.
