Baby Sunglasses: Cute but Uncomfortable for the Baby

At the end of this past summer, my sister’s new baby was four months old and making a lot of outings with his parents.

His daddy plays Victorian baseball for a local team, and the whole family goes out to his games every weekend during the summer.

I bought my nephew some snazzy baby sunglasses to protect his eyes, and also because they were so darn cute!

The sunglasses looked like miniature wrap-around sunglasses, like you see on surfers.

They had a wide and colorful elastic band instead of frames, and acted more like goggles.

Obviously a four-month-old could never use standard style sunglasses.

But even though they looked comfortable from the adults’ perspective, the baby hated them.

He would start to cry when we put them on, and scratch at his face to get them off.

Maybe not all infants will react the same way, but it was a wasted gift for my nephew.
