House Solar Film 20 Years Later

by Lew McDaniel
(Independence, WV, USA)

20 years ago, solar film was professionally installed on our south facing insulated triple paned windows.

Our goal was to reduce summer heat and carpet fading.

Today, we would like to remove the uv window film since we have air conditioning and hardwood floors.

In addition, the uv protection window film appears to have caused the temperature inside the windows to heat beyond their specifications causing the seal material to melt and run.

Last, but not least, the film has become scratched from pet claws.

So far, we have not found an easy way to remove the film, but we are still looking.
